TriTown Dems To Host Executive Council Candidates For Districts 1 & 2

TriTown Democrats to Host Executive Council Candidates Meet and Greet for Districts 1 and 2.

Farmington, New Hampshire  - March 14, 2016 - The TriTown Democrats, representing the Democratic Committees of Farmington, Milton, and New Durham, is proud to announce a meet and greet for Democratic Candidates for Executive Council Districts 1 and 2.  The event will take place on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 3:30 - 5:30 PM at the Farmington Town Hall, 531 Main Street, Farmington, New Hampshire.  Light refreshments will be served, and the public is invited to attend.

Mike Cryans, the Democratic Candidate for District #1, was born and raised in Littleton. Mike began his professional career as a teacher, passing on the gift of a quality education to the next generation at the very same high school in Littleton he attended himself.  He then worked his way from loan officer trainee at the Littleton Savings Bank to a Senior Vice President of the Dartmouth Banking Company. For the next decade he operated a sole-proprietorship assisting local small businesses arrange financing and helping working families achieve the dream of home ownership. His values of hard work and the importance of treating everyone with respect and dignity Mike attributes to his father, a WWII Veteran and union carpenter, and his mother, a homemaker. Mike has embodied these values throughout his career as a teacher, small business man, and presently, as a public servant.  Find out more at www.mikecryans.org.

Andru Volinsky, the Democratic Candidate for District #2, is a New Hampshire father, husband, lawyer, and advocate. Andru’s experience as a lawyer is diverse. He taught at the University of Tennessee School of Law before joining the New Hampshire Public Defender Program in 1982. In 1985 he transitioned to private practice.  Part of Andru’s legal work has been to represent communities fighting to protect public funding for schools.  Andru and his wife live in East Concord.  The couple strongly believes public service is a family value. All the members of the Volinsky family have staffed the Concord Armory’s food basket program every Christmas for many years. Andru serves as the strategic planning chair of the Manchester Community Health Center whose mission is to eliminate health disparities by providing exceptional healthcare that is accessible to all. His role on this board has given him an understanding of the importance of the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid Expansion.  Find out more at www.volinskynh.com.

The Executive Council of the State of New Hampshire has the authority and responsibility, together with the Governor, over the administration of the affairs of the State as defined in the New Hampshire Constitution, the New Hampshire statutes, and the advisory opinions of the New Hampshire Supreme Court and the Attorney General.  Each of the five Executive Councilors represents one fifth of the population or approximately 263,000 citizens. Councilors are elected every two years, concurrently with the Governor. The Councilors participate in the active management of the business of the state, with assistance from the Commissioner of the Department of Administrative Services and the Attorney General.

The TriTown Democratic Committee advocates for strong local support of our communities, and supports legislation and candidates that are community minded.  Their activities provide political, economic, and social information for the citizens of the three towns, but also encourages progressive movements in these areas at all levels of government.  Through community involvement, political action, and a shared vision, the group seeks to expand equity and opportunity for all residents of the Towns of Farmington, Milton, and New Durham.

Mike Cryans For Executive Council

As Executive Councilor, Mike will invest in the economy, protect taxpayers, and fight to strengthen New Hampshire’s middle class, as he did as Grafton County Commissioner. During his 17 years serving the people of Grafton County, almost all of them side by side with Ray Burton, Mike demonstrated the temperament of a bipartisan problem solver working across the aisle to fight for the interests of Grafton County.

Protecting Taxpayers:

Mike has a proven record of saving the taxpayer money by finding more effective and cost-efficient methods to administer  government services and facilities. As County Commissioner he asked the tough questions and fought to hold government contractors and State agencies accountable to the taxpayer. As a result county construction projects have come in under budget saving taxpayers hard earned money, including the construction of a county prison, which Mike was able to reduce from half its projected cost.

Investing in New Hampshire’s Economy:

The first district’s Executive Councilor does more than approve state contracts and confirm judicial and executive appointments; they are the advocate for the dozens of communities spanning four counties and over half the state’s land mass. Just as he has done as County Commissioner, Mike will make investing in New Hampshire’s economy one of his top priorities. That includes investing in the region’s infrastructure; maintaining the roads and bridges that New Hampshire businesses rely on every day to transport their products and sustain area’s important tourism economy.  Mike believes that a successful economy begins with success in the classroom.  As Executive Councilor, he will fight to increase funding that prepares the next generation for the jobs of the 21st Century, and provide for programs that provide a pipeline from local schools to decent middle class jobs.

Strengthening the Middle Class:

Equally important as investing in the programs and infrastructure that sustain the area’s economy, Mike will advocate for measures that protect working families and strengthen the middle class. He will work with local businesses to provide them with access to resources that will make them more competitive and lower health insurance burdens. On the Council, Mike will fight for working families and the vulnerable, advocating for medicaid expansion, an increase in the state minimum wage,  strengthened consumer protections, and Mike will support efforts to help our seniors.

October 2012 Milton Candidates Forum Videos

These videos cover the Milton NH Candidates Forum, held October 21st at the Milton NH Town Hall, in the Emma Ramsey Center. Both Republican and Democrats were represented, as well as a few other party candidates. The video is raw footage of the event. The audience adhered to normal debate protocol and only clapped at the beginning and end to thank all attendees, and after all candidates in each category had spoken. Although there was supposed to be a rolling rotation for candidates answers to questions, that did not happen. Questions were taken from the audience via cards and relayed to candidates by the moderator.
