National 'Medicare For All' Town Hall With Digital Outlets-Jan 23rd 7PM

"The United States is the only major country on earth not to guarantee healthcare to all people, but amazingly there has not been one network town hall to discuss why our system lags so far behind every other industrialized country." U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders: For the first time in American history we will be holding a nationally televised town meeting on Medicare for all.  The United States is the only major country on Earth not to guarantee health care to all people, but amazingly there has not been one network town hall to discuss why our system lags so far behind every other industrialized country.  We are going outside the traditional media to change that, to talk about the real issues affecting the American people.

Call To Action: Right To Work (For Less) Hearing On Tues Jan 10th

Hi folks,

The New Hampshire Senate will be holding a hearing on so called "Right to Work' on Tuesday, January 10, at 1:00 PM at Representatives Hall at the State House in Concord.  We need you to show up and bring a friend with you, if you can.  We all know that "Right to Work" is the preferred method to destroy unions in this country. This is wrong for businesses and wrong for New Hampshire workers and their families.  The Senate is trying to ram this bill through which explains the short notice and lack of fanfare or advertising about it.  They believe with short notice, they will not get many people to the hearing and thus not hear the will of New Hampshire workers. Even if you can only come to the State House for a few minutes, your voice could make a difference.  Please attend in person, sign in, in opposition of Senate Bill 11-FN.  If you cannot attend, please write your senator, representatives, executive council member, and the Governor, and let them know that you do not support "Right to Work" legislation, as it only destroys workers' rights and favors opposition of Corporate bosses.  These kinds of bills are drafted by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), an organization funded by the Koch Brothers.

This bill prohibits collective bargaining agreements that require employees to join or contribute to a labor union.

Note: the Calendar on the Senate Calendar Page (http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/Senate/calendars_journals/default.html) is labelled "No.05, January 05, 2016".  It could be a mistake, or it could be a ploy to trick folks into thinking it was last year's calendar.

Up Coming Community Conversation : more towns to be confirmed soon!

Thursday 4/9/15 5:30-7pm Rochester Public Library, 65 South Main St. Rochester, upstairs meeting room

To set the stage and provide some critical background information, Jeff McLynch of the NH Fiscal Policy Institute will do a short presentation and be available to join the conversation. Jeff is very knowledgeable of the complexities of the NH Budget and the budget process so is an invaluable addition to the conversation, being able to answer many questions that we, as the general public, probably do not know.

We respectfully request that you pre-register for the event by going to this link: http://goo.gl/forms/Nnv0EUilU8

The budget process for NH is underway. The Governor has proposed her budget. The NH House of Representatives has proposed their budget that most believe to be irresponsible to the people of NH. The budget process has now crossed over to the NH Senate. It is important that Granite Staters have some knowledge of this process, of the proposed cuts and know what action they may be able to take during this critical part of the cycle.

A petition was presented to the House on 4/1/15 with over 800 signatures. It is not too late to add your name: Petition Text: We call on members of the state House & Senate to pass a responsible, balanced budget that protects taxpayers without sacrificing the essential programs and services New Hampshire families and communities depend on for our health, safety, and quality of life.

What Does Right to Work Really Mean?

"Ultimately, the name is a misnomer. “Right to work” isn’t as much about your right to work as it is about limiting your right to collectively bargain. These laws, and related ones, aim to stop workers from collectively bargaining. While some similar laws simply outlaw collective bargaining, right to work laws make it illegal to collect fees from non-members to cover the costs of bargaining. That, in turn, harms a union’s ability to collectively bargain by limiting its resources." SEIU 1984
